Why Are Beans Good for You?

Beans are small, but they are very good for us. There are many kinds of beans, such as soybeans, chickpeas, lentils, and black beans. People around the world eat them in many ways. In Japan, we eat tofu, natto, and miso. In other countries, people eat bean soup, chili, or hummus.
Beans are healthy for three main reasons. First, they have protein. Protein helps our body build muscles and stay strong. Second, beans have a lot of fiber. Fiber helps our stomach and keeps us full for a long time. So beans can help us avoid eating too many snacks. Third, beans have vitamins and minerals, such as iron and magnesium. These help our body work well.
Beans are also cheap and easy to use. We can add them to soup, rice, salads, and sandwiches. We do not need to eat a lot at one time. A small amount every day is a good start. Beans are simple food, but they can make our meals better and healthier.
